Education<\/span><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"KTwPFW YjkWXv\"><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Professor Mansour Bahrami was born in 1939 in Khomain, Iran, into an educated and cultured family. From an early age, a love for learning and service took root within him. After completing his secondary education, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tehran in 1966, and in 1972 he joined the ranks of Iran\u2019s leading pediatricians by completing his pediatric specialty training under the mentorship of the eminent Professor Mohammad Gharib.<\/span><br \/><strong><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Path of Service<\/span><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"KTwPFW YjkWXv\"><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Dr. Bahrami devoted more than four decades of his life to the health and well-being of Iranian children. His leadership roles included serving as Head of the Pediatrics Department at Shahid Tajrish Medical Center (1984\u20132004), Vice-Chair for Education in the Department of Pediatrics at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, member of the National Pediatrics Board Examination Committee, and Director of the Continuing Medical Education Office. Through authoring articles and serving as editor-in-chief of the Mother\u2019s Milk quarterly, he made significant contributions to advancing pediatric medicine in Iran.<\/span><br \/><strong><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">A Globally Educated Patriot<\/span><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"KTwPFW YjkWXv\"><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">To enhance his knowledge, Dr. Bahrami traveled extensively, studying at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the Nutrition Institute of India, and institutions in London and Bangladesh. Every journey was an opportunity to gain new expertise and bring it back as a gift to his homeland.<\/span><br \/><strong><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Enduring Contributions<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Promoted breastfeeding in an era when it was not yet a firmly established public health practice.<\/span><br \/><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Played a pivotal role in national immunization programs and childhood disease control initiatives.<\/span><br \/><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Helped establish Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) in Iran.<\/span><br \/><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Championed the fight against diarrheal diseases and the use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), saving thousands of children\u2019s lives.<\/span><br \/><strong><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Working Alongside Great Figures<\/span><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"KTwPFW YjkWXv\"><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">He benefited from the mentorship of giants in Iranian medicine, such as Professor Gharib, Dr. Ziaei, and Dr. Malek-Afzali, and collaborated on national health programs with ministers such as Dr. Marandi. His friendships with leading pediatricians like Dr. Siyadati and Dr. Khatami resulted in not only remarkable professional collaborations but also enduring lessons in medical ethics.<\/span><br \/><strong><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Honors and Legacy<\/span><\/strong><\/div><div class=\"KTwPFW YjkWXv\"><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">Dr. Bahrami received numerous awards and commendations from scientific bodies and the Ministry of Health. Yet, his greatest legacy is the generation of committed physicians inspired by his dedication to the care of children in Iran. He is not only a physician but also a transformative teacher and tireless pioneer. His love for children lived on from the pediatric wards to the university classrooms. Today, Iran remains indebted to a man who fused science with ethics and dedicated his life to the future of his nation.<\/span><br \/><strong><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">In His Own Words<\/span><\/strong><br \/><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOne of the best periods of my medical life was my close collaboration with the late Professor Mohsen Ziaei. He was the son-in-law of Professor Gharib and participated weekly in the educational programs at the Children\u2019s Medical Center. On the morning of my last day as chief resident, I received a phone call from Shahid Tajrish Medical Center asking me to report there. From that day, I began working at this newly established center, where Dr. Ziaei headed both the medical organization\u2019s pediatrics section and the hospital\u2019s pediatrics department. Under his leadership, the center achieved peak reputation and strength, and it remains the strongest educational unit of Shahid Beheshti University to this day. Dr. Ziaei also rendered valuable services at the universities of Tehran, Shiraz, and Mashhad before returning to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland around 1977. My deep and indescribable connection with him continued until the end of his life.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span class=\"p\" dir=\"ltr\">He went on to reflect on the transformative influence of working alongside great figures in pediatrics.
