Childhood is the shortest yet the most fundamental stage of every person’s life. What happens during these golden years shapes an individual’s physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being, as well as their future educational achievement and career success. Early Childhood Development (ECD) extends far beyond physical growth; it is a dynamic, multidimensional process encompassing motor, cognitive, language, emotional, and social development.
Recognizing this critical responsibility, the Committee for the Promotion of Early Childhood Development* has been established within the Iranian Pediatric Association to provide leadership in policy development, education, research, and public advocacy in the field of Early Childhood Development (ECD).

Vision

To ensure that every child in Iran has equal access to optimal opportunities for achieving their full developmental potential within a safe, nurturing, emotionally supportive, and cognitively enriching environment.

 Mission

To enhance awareness and build the capacity of physicians, healthcare professionals, parents, and policymakers regarding the scientific principles and practical aspects of early childhood development, with particular emphasis on the early identification of developmental delays and the implementation of timely and effective interventions.

Core Areas of Activity

1. Developing clinical protocols and practical guidelines for the screening, monitoring, and promotion of child development within the primary healthcare system.
2. Organizing structured educational programs for general practitioners, pediatricians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
3. Designing and implementing public awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of play, parent–child interaction, appropriate nutrition, stress reduction, and responsive caregiving.
4. Collaborating with relevant national and international organizations—including the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the State Welfare Organization of Iran, UNICEF, and other stakeholders—to improve child development indicators at the national level.
5. Supporting applied research on the determinants of child development and innovative approaches to early intervention
